Matrix Materials

Econo is a pioneer in matrix board development and manufacturing. Initially, we manufactured multi-ply constructed matrix products. With the recent addition of the Wil-Mat line of single-ply matrix products, our product line is the most complete in the industry. We are the only source of both multi-ply and single-ply matrix constructions.

Regardless of the application we have a matrix that will satisfy your need. If you are making flexographic printing plates, our multi-ply matrix offers the shrinkage control to hold the tightest of registrations. Rubber stampmakers have a wide range of product from which to choose. Our products are noted for their ability to withstand repeated moldings without failure. Embossing die manufacturers have selected our matrix products for their strength and faithful reproduction of the finest detail. Whether molding from a photopolymer or metal masters, we have a variety of products to serve your needs.

Our production capabilities permit for multiple coating applications creating materials for virtually every molding requirement. The spectrum of our product ranges from gauges of .090" (2.29mm) to .300" (7.62mm). Standard sheet sizes for our multi-ply product are 25.5" X 51" (674.7mm X 1,295.4mm) and 51" X 51" (1,295.4mm X 1,295.4mm).  Single-ply matrix materials are available in standard sheet sizes of 30" X 33" (762mm X 838.2mm) and 33" X 60" (838.2mm X 1,524mm). We also cut sheets to your specifications.

Specification Sheet

• K-MAT
  Brown top / yellow base. For flexographic plate applications. Molded from zinc, magnesium and copper originals.
   
• R-MAT
  Special "release free" red top / yellow base. For flexographic plate applications. Molded from magnesium and copper originals.
   
• Uncoated MAT
  Yellow base. For powder filled molds from zinc, magnesium and type forms. For deep relief applications. 
   
• S-MAT
  Brown top / yellow base. Specifically designed for flexographic plate and rubber stamp applications. Molded from photopolymer and rubber masters. Can also be manufactured with our black top.
   
• Soft uncoated board
  Yellow base. For powder filled molds from photopolymer and rubber masters. For deep relief applications.
   
• Build-up Paper
  Yellow base. For use as a control sheet in sandwich molds for deep relief applications. Available in .040" and .060" thickness.
   
• Wil-Mat Matrix Board - Low Density Matrix
  Red top / green base. Designed for process color flexo plates.
   
• Wil-Mat Matrix Board - High Density Matrix
  Red top / green-grey base. Suited for general purpose applcations from metal or photopolymer masters.
   
• Wil-Mat Matrix Board - Low/Square Shrink Matrix
  Red top / yellow base. Square shrink (two-ply) for 0.250" embossing dies.
   
• Wil-Mat Matrix Board - Polymer Conversion Matrix
  Red top / base (depends on application). Lay flat, square shrink for deep rubber stamp molding from photopolymer masters.
