About Econo Products
Econo Products, Inc., is a privately held business formed in 1930 by Seldon E. May who was a pioneer in introducing rubber plate relief printing to the envelope and business forms industries. The process of printing with rubber plates was unproven and very technically challenging. Plenty of hard work and a variety of process improvements as well as material developments made rubber plate relief printing grow. It is from this era that Econo matrix materials were developed and introduced.
As rubber printing plate technology continued to improve its capabilities, the practical nature of the process began to expand into other markets. Corrugated boxes and paper products were easily printed with rubber relief plate technology. The advent of plastics created new materials for packaging, thereby expanding the abilities of the printing technology. In 1952 a new industry called flexography was born and an organization was formed to support technological advances and promote the education of the process. Econo is proud to be a charter member of the Flexographic Technical Association (FTA) and our commitment to the industry remains focused.
Our capabilities in producing multi-ply matrix board products made us the leader in matrix technology. Our matrix products have the worldwide reputation as the best available. In 1997, we were presented with the opportunity to expand, with the purchase of the assets of a manufacturer of matrix board to compliment our existing line of matrix products. This proves our commitment to relief plate printing.
Econo also has kept pace with technological advances in the package printing and marking industries with the addition of photopolymer materials from world-renowned manufacturers. Our photopolymer product offerings have grown to include the letterpress, dry-offset and pad printing industries.
We strive to fill the needs of our customers and the industries we serve.
